Paint & Corrosion

Revive your car's beauty
Paint corrosion, paint chipping and scratches are common issues that can affect a car's exterior. Damage to this outer layer, is not only frustrating and unattractive but if ignored for a long period of time can also threaten the integrity of the underlying bodywork metal.
The key causes of paint corrosion & damage we see in Aberdeenshire are:

Chemicals such as road salt, bird droppings, tree sap, and even certain cleaning products being left too long and the chemicals eat away at the coating and lead to paint corrosion

Physical damage including scratches and chips in the paint work again being left too long, creating entry points for moisture which accelerates the paint corrosion process.

Rust caused by moisture getting into contact with the bare metal surface of the car and being left untreated so that it causes the paint work to bubble, crack or peel.

Our paint and corrosion repair services

At Robinson's Bodyshop, our paint corrosion service is designed to rejuvenate your vehicle's appearance and protect it from the damaging effects of rust.

Our meticulous process ensures a thorough restoration:

Step 1
Rust Removal
Begin by sanding down affected areas to expose bare, clean metal panels – eliminating all traces of corrosion.
Step 2
Corrosion Converter Treatment
Apply a corrosion converter to halt the progression of rust, preventing further deterioration of the metal.
Step 3
Panel preparation
Thoroughly prepare the affected panel for painting, ensuring a smooth and even surface for a perfect finish.
Step 4
Etch priming
Primers are applied to the bare metal that etch the surface, creating a stable foundation for subsequent layers, enhancing paint adhesion.
Step 5
High Build Priming
Apply a high build primer to level the corroded area with the existing paint, achieving a seamless finish.
Step 6
Primer preparation
Prepare the primer for painting, ensuring optimal compatibility with the chosen topcoat for the panel.
Step 7
Masking & Painting
Skillfully mask the surrounding areas and meticulously paint the treated panel to restore it to its original finish.
In cases of severe corrosion where holes have appeared, we would recommend the damaged area is removed and a metal plate or replacement panel is then fitted for a robust, lasting solution.
