Standard tyres, often referred to as all-season tyres, are designed to provide good performance in our typical Scottish weather conditions. They are the most common type of tyre and are suitable for year-round use.
Winter Tyres
Winter tyres can enhance your driving safety, as the tread is specifically designed to disperse water and slush, thereby reducing the risk of aquaplaning. The tread also features small slits that provide extra grip on icy surfaces.
When Would I Use Different Tyres?
While standard tyres are suitable for year-round use, the cold and snowy winter weather often experienced in Aberdeenshire can pose challenges on the roads, especially if you live in elevated areas.
We recommend switching to winter tyres around November as colder conditions start to set in, and switch back to standard tyres around March time.
Winter tyres tend to wear out more quickly in warmer weather, while the softer rubber compound of winter tyres offer better traction when there is ice and snow on the road surface.
